It all started with the question: "What should we do for our next popular pop-up print T-shirt?"
We couldn't find a base T-shirt that was 100% perfect, and the ones that were close were too expensive, and besides, T-shirts can be pretty hot in the summer.
So we thought,
"Well, why not make our own?"
And we thought,
"A regular round-neck T-shirt isn't going to be cool enough, right? What if we made it like an American football jersey?"
So we tried prototyping with sheeting fabric and it went well.
"Let's not use knit fabric; let's find a nice, cool, and comfortable woven fabric."
We ordered fabric samples from various places, and although we were tempted by cotton-linen blends,
we didn't really want to look like someone who only wears natural-fiber clothing.
So, we chose a slightly more expensive Oxford fabric that looks great even when washed and air-dried, and one that adults can wear properly.
We redesigned the slits on both sides many times until we found a way to make them look clean and sturdy. This is it.
Since it's a replacement for a print T-shirt, we initially intended to add a stencil print, but
thinking it might be better without looking too flashy, the graphic is stitched on instead.
It's incredibly tedious work, but it looks much cooler this way, right?
