"TYPE-33 / Type-33"
French army tent re-make super huge tote bag
Two pockets outside ( Front and Back )
Lip 70cm / 28" wide
1/1

This super-sized tote bag, with a 70cm / 28" opening, is remade from a very valuable French military tent.

About 16 years ago, shortly after starting the brand, it was tote bags and pipe chair coats remade from military tents that helped put the JETMINMIN name out there.
We were featured in the "Tools" section of "Huge" magazine, and then "Tools" became a book. We were invited to a spin-off event, and at Isetan Shinjuku just before the 2011 earthquake, our "BALLOOON!" tote, remade from a military tent, became an instant star.

At that time, there were no other brands making tote bags from such dirty military tents.
Trading companies that imported and sold military surplus had piles of unusable tents, like unsaleable inventory, so we had unlimited access to tents from various countries.

The tents arrived in cardboard boxes, extremely dirty and smelly, so we always had to wash them before making anything. Washing them would cause holes in deteriorated fabric, so the first step after cutting the fabric for a tote bag was to repair it. Some items had broken seams or crooked stitching that caused the fabric to float.
After these, what I now realize were immense preliminary stages, we would sew the stiff fabric, breaking needles and making sparks fly from the motor of the industrial sewing machine.
Each of these experiences has become the foundation of our current tote bag making.

The military boom didn't work in our favor.
Military tents, which we used to source cheaply, were bought up by large brands or their prices soared, forcing us, on a small scale, to give up military remakes.

However, as a result, it became a good turning point for us.
Unable to rely on military remakes, we began to pursue our original designs and diligently worked to improve the quality of our sewing techniques and other aspects.
It was a good thing that people started buying our tote bags even when they were made from regular canvas.

Occasionally, to remember our roots, we make these huge tote bags from the military tents we bought up back then. And we make them better than we used to.

Perfect size for travel and camping.
As this is a remake from a used French army tent, each item is unique and may have dirt, rust marks, repairs, and a scent.

*All finished bags are pre-aged by washing them together with other items. There may be wrinkles, a soft feel, slight dirt, or stains throughout.
*JETMINMIN sews all items personally, so there may be slight differences in shape and dimensions between items.
*Product specifications may change without notice for improvement.
*Please use a laundry net when washing.

Fabric products are delivered after the fabric has been washed once to naturally shrink it, then cut and sewn, and then the finished product is washed and naturally dried again to make it settle and create a vintage look.
Due to fabric shrinkage and washing wrinkles, you might feel, "It's new, but it's wrinkled like a used item." The wrinkles will naturally smooth out and settle with use. We appreciate your understanding.
For environmental reasons, we wash with laundry soap and air dry, without using fabric softener.
