This is an extra-large tote bag with a 70cm (28") opening, remade from a very rare French military tent.
About 16 years ago, shortly after we started the brand, it was the tote bags remade from military tents and pipe chair coats that helped get the JETMINMIN name out there.
We were featured in the "Tools" section of "Huge" magazine, which later became a book. We were then invited to a spin-off event, and just before the 2011 earthquake, the "BALLOOON!" tote bag, remade from a military tent, became an instant star at Isetan Shinjuku.
At that time, there were no other brands making tote bags from such dirty military tents.
Trading companies that imported and sold military surplus items had mountains of tents that were like unsellable inventory, and we had free rein to use tents from various countries.
The tents that arrived in cardboard boxes were incredibly dirty and smelly, so we always had to wash them before making products. Washing would create holes in deteriorated parts of the fabric, so the first step after cutting the fabric to make a tote bag was to repair it. Some items had broken seams or were sewn crookedly, causing the fabric to float.
Going through these, what now seem like immense preliminary steps, we would sew, breaking needles on the tough fabric and making sparks fly from the motor of the industrial sewing machine.
Each of these experiences has formed the foundation of our current tote bag making.
The military boom did not favor us.
The military tents that we had been sourcing cheaply were bought up by larger brands or their prices soared, forcing us, with our small scale, to give up on military remakes.
However, in retrospect, it was a good turning point for us.
Unable to rely on military remakes, we began to pursue our original designs and worked hard to improve the quality of our sewing techniques and other aspects.
It's great that people now buy our tote bags made from ordinary canvas.
Occasionally, to remember our roots, we make these huge tote bags from the military tents we bought up back then. We do it better now than we did back then.

*Sizes and weights may vary slightly.
*All finished bags are aged slightly by being washed with other items. There may be wrinkles, a soft feel, light dirt, or stains throughout.
*Since JETMINMIN does the sewing ourselves, there may be slight differences in shape and dimensions between items.
*Products may undergo specification changes without notice for improvement.
*Please put in a net when washing.
For fabric products, the fabric is washed once to naturally shrink it, then cut and sewn. The finished product is then washed and air-dried again to help it settle and create a natural worn look before delivery.
Due to fabric shrinkage and washing wrinkles, you might feel like "it's new, but it's wrinkled like a used item." The wrinkles will naturally smooth out as you use it. Thank you for your understanding.
For washing, to be environmentally friendly, we use laundry soap and air dry without fabric softener.
